Biography of Khaled Al-Saai
Khaled Al-Saai, an artist born in Homs (Syria) in 1970, hails from a family of musicians and art critics. He pursued his passion for painting at the University of Damascus, earning a Bachelor's degree in 1995, followed by a Master's degree with distinction in 1997.
In addition to his painting studies, Al-Saai delved into the art of calligraphy under the tutelage of Hasan Celebi. His dedication to calligraphy led him to receive a certificate from the Islamic History, Art, and Culture Research Centre (IRCICA) in Istanbul in 1998. Al-Saai went on to share his expertise by teaching Islamic art and calligraphy courses and conducting workshops worldwide.
Throughout his career, Al-Saai has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions worldwide. Notably, he held a solo exhibition at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris in 2001. His outstanding contributions to art and calligraphy have earned him several awards, including the first prize in Diwani Jali Style in Tehran (1997) and the Modernity Prize for Arabic Calligraphy at the 1st Biennial for Arabic Calligraphy in Sharjah (2004).
In 2002, Khaled Al-Saai expanded his expertise by teaching "Introduction to Arabic Calligraphy" at the University of Michigan, USA. He has also led workshops and exhibitions in Chicago and Boston.
