Jacqy duVal
Jacqy duVal is the creative partnership between Jacqueline Dehond and Koenraad Uyttendaele, two accomplished artists who joined forces during their studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
The fusion of their talents and shared dedication materialized in 2009 with the creation of an abstract mural, marking their first collaborative endeavor. Subsequently, in 2011, Jacqy duVal emerged as the embodiment of their artistic synergy. Since 2014, they have exclusively devoted themselves to the creation of their works.
Jacqy duVal's Art Style
Jacqy duVal's paintings are a striking showcase of abstract art defined by simple geometric patterns. The artists meticulously compose their work with proportions that frequently reference the golden ratio, resulting in a soothing and aesthetically pleasing effect. The application of flat and contrasting colors through brush techniques creates a captivating color intensity that boasts a matte and velvety quality. The materials and techniques employed by the artists are thoughtfully chosen and executed with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a finely polished final product.
The paintings on canvas employ the "Tuchlein" technique, in which the paint is directly applied to the canvas without the use of a white primer. The colors are crafted using specific pigments and a process that avoids the use of oil.
The creative process of Jacqy duVal is an ongoing dialogue wherein shapes, colors, and composition are considered together. Drawing inspiration from diverse sources, including Egyptian and Islamic architecture, fabrics, antique carpets, and contemporary artists like Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, the artists amalgamate modernity with ancient techniques, abstraction with classical motifs, rigid geometry with exuberant use of color, resulting in an aesthetically and harmoniously impeccable fusion.
