István Csakany
István Csákány is a contemporary Hungarian artist born in 1978 in Budapest. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest where he specialized in sculpture.
Throughout his career, Csákány has experimented with a variety of materials and techniques, including wood, metal, plaster, and concrete. He is best known for his large-scale sculptures and installations that often explore the relationships between space, form, and light.
Csákány's early works were influenced by the minimalist art movement and characterized by geometric shapes and clean lines. However, over time, his style has evolved to incorporate a greater degree of complexity and dynamism, as well as a more expressive use of materials.
In addition to his work as a sculptor, Csákány has also produced a number of drawings and prints. His work has been exhibited extensively in Hungary and internationally, including at the Venice Biennale, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the Ludwig Museum in Budapest.
He received various fellowships such as at ATELIERFRANKFURT, Frankfurt am Main/Germany in 2010 or at MeetFactory in Prague/Czech Republic in 2008.
