Iran do Espírito Santo
Iran do Espírito Santo is a Brazilian artist known for his minimalist sculptures and installations that explore geometry, texture, and scale. Born in 1963 in Mococa, Brazil, he studied at the Universidade de Campinas and later earned an MFA from Goldsmiths College in London.
Espírito Santo's work often features monochromatic surfaces that emphasize texture and materiality, such as marble, metal, and concrete. His sculptures and installations play with scale, creating a sense of disorientation and inviting viewers to engage with the work in a physical way.
He has exhibited his work internationally at institutions such as the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., the Pinacoteca do Estado in São Paulo, and the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona. He has also participated in the São Paulo Biennial and the Venice Biennale. Today, Espírito Santo continues to create innovative sculptural works that challenge viewers' perceptions of space and materiality.
