Genevieve Chua was born in 1984 in Singapore and currently resides and works in both London and Singapore.

Genevieve Chua pursued her artistic education by completing a Diploma in Painting at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore in 2004. She later continued her studies, earning a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Painting from the prestigious Royal College of Art in London in 2018.

Genevieve Chua's artistic prowess has garnered her prestigious accolades, including the IMPART Award in 2020 in the artist category, and the esteemed Young Artist Award in 2012, bestowed upon her by the National Arts Council of Singapore.

In her ongoing series, 'After the Flood,' initiated in 2010, Genevieve Chua presents a collection of monochromatic photographs capturing Adinandra Belukar, a forest ecosystem primarily characterized by the presence of Adinandra dumosa from Theaceae family, commonly found in Singapore and the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia. Notably, Chua has meticulously hand-colored specific portions of these photographs, highlighting the encroachment of a particular weed that tends to envelop and overtake other vegetation within this unique environment.

Within her 'Ultrasound' series, which she produced in 2012, Genevieve Chua embarked on a captivating artistic journey. In this series, she ingeniously translated the auditory sensation of rushing water into a visual language, transforming these sounds into delicate dots. These meticulously crafted dots were then skillfully screen-printed onto linen, giving rise to subterranean compositions that intriguingly mirror the ethereal imagery of ultrasound scans, evoking the intimate and mysterious landscapes reminiscent of the womb.
