Eric Fischl
Eric Fischl is an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker known for his figurative works that explore themes of sexuality, desire, and the human condition. Born in New York in 1948, Fischl studied at the California Institute of the Arts and the Maryland Institute College of Art before returning to New York in the 1970s to begin his career as an artist.
Fischl's paintings often feature scenes of everyday life, such as beach parties, family gatherings, and suburban landscapes, which he imbues with a sense of psychological tension and unease. His works frequently incorporate elements of realism and abstraction, creating a sense of visual and conceptual complexity.
Fischl has exhibited his work internationally, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. He has also collaborated with numerous artists and writers, including Stephen King, who wrote a short story inspired by one of Fischl's paintings.
