Doreen Lynette Garner
Doreen Lynette Garner is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York City. Born in 1986 in Philadelphia, she received her MFA in Glass from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2014. Garner's work often explores themes of gender, race, and sexuality through the mediums of sculpture, installation, and performance.
Garner's art is deeply personal and political, exploring themes of trauma, healing, and resistance. She often incorporates in her work found objects and materials, such as discarded medical equipment, vintage photographs, and natural materials like hair and bone. She uses these materials to create powerful and evocative sculptures that invite viewers to think deeply about the ways in which our bodies and identities are shaped by the world around us.
