Dawit Adnew's Art Style

Dawit Adnew's paintings evoke a lush and dreamy utopia. In his compositions, figures recline gracefully amidst intricately patterned dresses within gardens brimming with vibrant plants, flowers, and fruits. A sense of everlasting tranquility permeates the scenes, reminiscent of twilight, where color and pattern serve as wellsprings of sheer delight, akin to the styles of Matisse or Gauguin.

Adnew's artistic approach is influenced by studies in African masks and iconography, and his incorporation of patterns and fabric stems from his background as a textile designer.

I focus on beauty and nature. This is one of the beauties of women and I want to express them in an artistic way so that I can explore the beautiful nature. Perhaps they are close enough to express themselves in many ways through their clothes. For example, in the country where I live, there are more than 80 different colours and costumes. I dare say women are my biggest avenues for how to relate to the modern world itself.
