Abstract Digital Photography

Cristina Simó is a digital artist based in Vic (Barcelona). She creates abstract and surreal digital works of art, using a variety of tools and techniques such as Photoshop, After Effects, and various apps. Cris is always eager to learn new skills and experiment with innovative ideas. She firmly believes that art is a powerful means of self-expression and a way to connect with others. She likens her artistic experience to magic:

As a child, I used to go in a small dark room we had at home to see and feel the magic of how the image was slowly appearing on the white paper that was inside the penultimate tray. I still feel that magic when I finally finish a digital artwork that fills me completely.

Cristina's working method consists of taking photographs with a mobile phone (a simple device without photographic quality) of something that catches her attention, such as a staircase, a dish of food, a landscape, a flower, a lamp, her family... and transforming it into abstract art.

Another example is the previous work, a photograph she took in Begur at the Costa Brava, with the Medes Islands visible in the background. As she is passionate about everything related to the Android medium, Cris added this robot, contributing a melancholic effect.

What I do now is not very different from what I used to do as a child with my parents when we went to see the sea. We took photos and developed them at home. Years later, we made touch-ups with one of the first versions of the Photoshop program. Currently, I have been fully immersed in digital art for three years, transforming reality and creating my work.

CSS Digital ART

Cristina Simó has training and experience in web design and development, working for various companies, institutions, and associations designing posters, brochures, and websites. She has taken different online courses to improve her skills in using digital tools, such as Photoshop, After Effects, and various apps. Therefore, she is responsible for all the processes: creating and managing personal website and external pages, creating and managing NFTs, and managing social media as well. The CSS Digital ART website is also a store, so she creates designs for bags, cups, posters, canvas, etc.

Currently, she has an exhibition of her artworks on display at a well-known gastro-bar, El Manubri in the center of Vic (Barcelona). She has also collaborated with Artebinaria on a virtual reality exhibition. Additionally, in the year 2024, she is working on new projects involving new photographs, blending augmented reality and backlighting. Her goal as an emerging artist is to enter the sector and exhibit her work in as many art galleries as possible, both physically and online.
