Corinne Wasmuht
Corinne Wasmuht is a German painter known for her large-scale abstract compositions that explore the intersections of time, memory, and perception. She is considered one of the leading contemporary painters working in Germany today.
Wasmuht studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg and later at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Her work is characterized by a meticulous attention to detail and a layered approach to composition, which often includes a combination of painting, drawing, and digital techniques.
Many of Wasmuht's works draw on historical and cultural references, incorporating elements of architecture, landscape, and urban spaces. Her paintings often feature fragmented forms and spaces that evoke a sense of disorientation and ambiguity.
Wasmuht's work has been exhibited widely in Europe and the United States, and is included in the collections of major museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate in London, and the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin. She has been awarded numerous prizes and awards, including the prestigious Preis der Nationalgalerie in Berlin in 2005.
Wasmuht has also worked in other media, including video, installation, and performance. She is known for her collaborations with musicians and composers, and has created live video projections for a number of experimental music performances.
