Connie Noyes' Art Style

Connie Noyes explores societal perceptions and assigned standards of beauty through her interdisciplinary art. She transforms neglected materials and sites into cherished objects or communal areas, imbuing the seemingly worthless with allure. This process prompts a reevaluation of conventional beauty standards, as the hidden narratives beneath the surface are uncovered and obscured. Whether in the studio or out in the world, Noyes' work raises the fundamental question: What defines beauty and value?

For Noyes, inspiration emerges from her interaction with materials, her inherent curiosity, and the act of creation itself. As an urban dweller, she draws upon her studio and the city itself as primary sources of material, gathering debris from studio floors, salvaging items from dumpsters, or repurposing objects discarded on street corners. Beginning each new project with an exploration of available materials, Noyes approaches her work with an openness to the unexpected, allowing the creative process to unfold organically.
