Anders Dickson’s art style
Dickson's work explores themes such as identity, mythology, nature, culture, and history.
Anders Dickson's deep connection to the natural world is evident in many of his artworks, which often feature animals or rural landscapes. Growing up amidst the woodlands of the Midwest, particularly in Minnesota and Wisconsin, played a significant role in shaping his artistic perspective. Throughout his upbringing, Anders and his family frequently relocated within forested areas, fostering a constant immersion in nature. This proximity to wildlife led Dickson to have frequent encounters with animals, whether through accompanying hunting trips, leisurely walks, or camping adventures. These experiences instilled in him a profound appreciation for the animal kingdom.
Furthermore, Dickson was influenced by Disney movies and cartoons during his formative years. These captivating children's shows, where animals took on central roles, captivated his imagination. The anthropomorphization of animals in these narratives further fueled his fascination with the interconnectedness between humans and the natural world. Another source of inspiration for Anders Dickson is his deep interest in Native American culture and mythology.
