 Sophia Whitney Hewson is a multidisciplinary artist based in Melbourne whose work transcends conventional boundaries, challenging and reshaping our perceptions of art and the human experience.

A graduate with First Class Honours from The Victoria College of the Arts in 2007, Sophia Whitney Hewson has since embarked on a series of solo exhibitions and research projects that delve into the complexities of the human experience. Notable among these projects is 'Untitled (viewer as patient)' (2018/19), where she conducted private therapy sessions within the gallery space, pushing the boundaries of conventional artistic engagement.

With a notable presence in the artistic community, Hewson is a member of The Australian Centre for Psychoanalysis in Melbourne as of 2021, showcasing a commitment to exploring the intersections between art and psychology.

Hewson's artistic journey has been marked by significant achievements, including being a finalist for the Ramsay Art Prize in 2019. Her international reach is evident through a six-month residency at Residency Unlimited in New York in 2015, and recognition from the Northern Centre for Contemporary Art for an international project in 2014. Art Collector Magazine further acknowledged her impact by selecting her as one of Australia's 50 most collectable artists in 2011, underscoring her influence in the contemporary art scene.
