Ryan Sullivan
Ryan Sullivan, born in 1983 in upstate New York, is an artist based in New York City known for his ever-changing style of abstraction. Each of his paintings captures the physical processes and material flows involved in its creation, resulting in a unique and expressive work of art. Sullivan studied at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI in 2005 and his work has been celebrated for its assertion of painting's ongoing critical significance and potential.
Sullivan's work has been exhibited in various group shows such as New Skin, Aishti Foundation in Beirut, Lebanon (2016), and Empire State, Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, Italy (2013). ICA Miami and Dancing Foxes Press will soon release a new book on Sullivan's practice featuring texts by Tim Griffin, Alex Gartenfeld, Christian Scheidemann, and a conversation with artist Laura Owens.
