Robert Dennis Crumb
Robert Dennis Crumb (born August 30, 1943) is an American cartoonist and musician who is known for his influential underground comics of the 1960s and 1970s. He often signs his work as "R. Crumb."
Crumb's comics were known for their satirical and countercultural content, often featuring exaggerated and taboo subjects such as sex, drugs, and violence. His most famous creation is the character "Fritz the Cat," a sarcastic and sexually promiscuous anthropomorphic cat who appeared in several of his comics.
In addition to his comics work, Crumb has also been involved in music, playing in several bands and collaborating with musicians such as Harvey Pekar and Aline Kominsky-Crumb (his wife and fellow cartoonist). He has also illustrated album covers for various musicians, including Janis Joplin and the Cheap Thrills.
