Richard Woods was born in 1966 in Chester, England. In 1990, he completed his studies at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, where he was trained as a sculptor. 

In 2003, his redesign of a cloistered courtyard was the focal point of The Henry Moore Foundation's exhibition at the 50th International Venice Biennale of Art.

Additionally, Woods undertook significant architectural projects such as a commission for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. He also designed an interior for the Comme des Garçons flagship store in Osaka, executed a mock Tudor renovation of a private residence in New York, and revamped the interior of Cary Grant's former Hollywood residence for its new owner, Jeffrey Deitch.
