Peppi Bottrop's Art Style
Bottrop is compelled and energized by an active impulse that is absorbed by his vibrant lines. These lines not only visually convey speed and energy but also embody a sense of it. At times, they appear rich and agile, while at other times, they are densely packed or exude a calm, stoic, and poetic asceticism, all while retaining their underlying sense of energy.
By employing coal or other unique materials for his lines and strokes, which, in physical and chemical terms, can either diffuse or intensify light, his compositions spark a dynamic synergy. Whether he is painting on plasterboard, directly on the surface, or more commonly on fabric fastened directly to the wall, his graphic works seamlessly traverse the line between painting and sculpture. This characteristic visual language dances between constructivism and deconstructivism, and it weaves through the realms of figuration and abstraction.
