Paul Mogensen

Paul Mogensen, born in Los Angeles in 1941, is a renowned American artist who has been exploring painting for over fifty years. His works feature structured arrangements of squares, rectangles, and lines in precise and unmediated Morse-code-like sequences. Mogensen resists the use of metaphors and conceptualist language, and has a highly individual appreciation of historical art, often referencing Russian artists and poets, as well as fourteenth century Sienese painting. His recent works engage with N+1 progressions and spiraling cubic forms.

Mogensen's work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and is included in the collections of several prominent museums, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
