Pak Sheung Chuen
Pak Sheung Chuen was born in 1977 in Fujian and immigrated to Hong Kong in 1984. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002 and currently resides and works in Hong Kong. Through his playful artwork, Pak manipulates the experience of everyday life, exploring the space between routine and coincidence, stability and imagination. He often uses himself and his writings as a medium, creating performative actions that engage with the ever-changing environment. From 2003 to 2008, Pak served as an art columnist for the newspaper Ming Pao and re-opened the column again in 2015. He has authored several books, including "Nightmare Wallpaper 140928-190701" and "Journal of PAK Sheung Chuen 2011-7-27 – 2011-11-14." Pak has exhibited his work in various solo and group exhibitions, including the 53rd Venice Biennale, the Busan Biennale 2016, and the Liverpool Biennial 2012. In 2011, he was recognized as one of Art Asia Pacific's Outstanding Artists and Promising Figures of the year, and in 2012, he won the Best Artist Award of CCAA (Chinese Contemporary Art Award).
