Ni Hao
Ni Hao is a Taiwanese artist born in Hsinchu in 1989 who currently lives and works in both Hsinchu and New York. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011 and a Master of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2014. Ni Hao's artistic practice is concerned with power structures, consumerism, and violence aesthetics, and he uses various media such as sculpture and video to investigate these themes.
In his work, Ni Hao often explores the political or personal meanings behind seemingly familiar objects, using them as a metaphor for larger social issues. He has had several solo exhibitions, including "Trust Me, Love Me" at Gallery Vacancy in Shanghai and "Ambush" at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. His works have been featured in group exhibitions at various venues, including UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, MOCA Taipei, and the Queens Museum in Queens.
In 2020, Ni Hao was a shortlisted candidate for the Eighth Huayu Youth Award. His work "Structure Study V" was exhibited at the Gwangju Biennale Pavilion Project in 2018, and his works are included in the collections of VMAC in Hong Kong, MMCA (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) in Seoul, South Korea, and Collezione Taurisano in Naples, Italy.
