Mario Airò was born in 1961 in Pavia, Italy. Under the tutelage of Luciano Fabro, he pursued his studies in Milan. In the mid-90s, he, along with fellow artists, established a self-managed space on Via Lazzaro Palazzi.

In 1997, Airò's talent caught the attention of the art world when he participated in the prestigious 47th Venice Biennale, marking a significant milestone in his career. 

His notable solo exhibitions include "Caro Federico" at GAM in Palermo (2016), "The gap in between" at Galerie Bernier-Eliades in Athens (2016), "Mario Airò, En plein air" at Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Villa Croce in Genova (2013), "Annotazioni" at Galleria Vistamare in Pescara (2011), and many more.
