Gego
Gego, born Gertrud Goldschmidt was a Venezuelan artist of German origin known for her sculptures, drawings, and prints. She is widely regarded as one of the most important Latin American artists of the 20th century.
Gego's work is characterized by a minimalist and geometric style that often explores the interplay between light, space, and movement. She is particularly known for her series of "Reticuláreas," large-scale installations made of metal wires that create intricate and delicate webs of geometric forms.
Throughout her career, Gego exhibited her work extensively in Venezuela and internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Venice Biennale. She also taught at the School of Architecture at the Central University of Venezuela and influenced many generations of artists.
