Christian Marclay
Christian Marclay is a Swiss-American visual artist and composer, known for his pioneering work in the field of sound art and experimental music. He studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and the Cooper Union in New York City.
Marclay's work often involves the use of found objects and appropriated audio and video material, which he recontextualizes and transforms into new works of art. One of his best-known works is "The Clock," a 24-hour film that is made up entirely of clips from other films, all edited together to show the exact time in real time.
Marclay has exhibited extensively in major museums and galleries around the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. He has also collaborated with musicians and composers such as Sonic Youth, John Zorn, and Kronos Quartet on various musical projects. In 2011, he was awarded the Golden Lion for best artist at the Venice Biennale.
