Cheyney Thompson was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA in 1975. He received his BFA in 1997 from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. 

In 2017, Thompson's artwork was showcased in an exhibition at The Brno House of Arts, located in Brno, Czechia, alongside Sam Lewitt.
