Biography of Cheyney Thompson

Cheyney Thompson was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA in 1975. He received his BFA in 1997 from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. 

In 2017, Thompson's artwork was showcased in an exhibition at The Brno House of Arts, located in Brno, Czechia, alongside Sam Lewitt.  

Recent solo exhibitions of Thompson's art include "Intervals" at Lisson Gallery in Beijing (2023), "Several Bellonas" at Lisson Gallery in New York (2022), "Intervals and Displacements" at Andrew Kreps Gallery in New York (2022), "L’écorché" at Campoli Presti in Paris, and many more.

Furthermore, Thompson has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including "Walk" at Shirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt in Frankfurt (2022), "Drawing 2020" at Gladstone Gallery in New York (2020), "Tainted Love / Club Edit" at Villa Arson in Nice (2019), "Programmed: Rules, Codes, and Choreographies in Art, 1965–2018" at Whitney Museum of American Art in New York (2018), among others. 

Thompson's works are part of the permanent collections at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

Currently, the artist lives in New York City, where he continues to work.
