Bruno Jakob
Bruno Jakob is a Swiss artist who was born in 1954 and studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He is known for his innovative and unconventional approach to painting, which challenges traditional notions of visual art and encourages viewers to question their perceptions of reality.
One of Jakob's most significant contributions to the art world is his series of Invisible Paintings. Using a traditional painting technique, Jakob creates works that remain invisible to the naked eye, using energy, brainwaves, or love instead of pigments. By doing so, he questions our cultural faith in visual evidence and challenges viewers to consider the intangible aspects of human experience.
In 2011 Bruno Jakob was invited to participate in the 54. Venice Biennial, where he exhibited two installations at the Arsenale and in the Main Pavilion. The works of Bruno Jakob have been presented at institutions such as the Helvetia Art Foyer (2020) in Basel, Kunsthaus Baselland, Muttenz (2016), Museum Tinguely, Basel (2015), Aargauer Kunsthaus, Aarau (2014), Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Siegen, Germany (2013) and Kunstmuseum Luzern, Lucerne (2012).
