Alberto Pitta's Art Style
Pitta's artistic focus lies in textile printing and serigraphy, with recent expansions into painting and sculpture. Spanning over four decades, his work is deeply connected to popular festivities and engages with diverse disciplines including fashion and dance. Pitta's creations have a significant public presence, notably designing prints for Afro carnival blocks like Olodum, Filhos de Gandhy, and his own, Cortejo Afro.
His journey in print production began in the 1980s, showcasing symbols, shapes, and strokes that evoke traditional African and Afro-diasporic elements, particularly from Yoruba mythology, deeply rooted in Salvador and the Bahian recôncavo.
