Vladimir Houdek

Vladimír Houdek (born in 1984) completed his studies at the Studio of Painting II/Vladimír Skrepl School at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He specializes in classic painting, collage, and experimental techniques involving these mediums.

Houdek draws inspiration from modernist and post-modernist concepts, and creates innovative visual forms. His paintings, which are often organized into complex thematic cycles, reference a range of painting styles such as Constructivism, Cubism, and op art. Through reinterpretation and commentary on art history, he offers a fresh perspective on these styles. Houdek frequently employs the circle motif in his works to convey specific content throughout his oeuvre.

In addition to exhibiting his works at leading Czech institutions, he has also showcased his work at Schleicher/Lange in Berlin, Trafó Gallery in Budapest, and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest.
