Sascha Braunig's Art Style
Beginning with detailed paintings of fantastical sculptural constructs, the artist employs a diverse array of pictorial techniques to convey the portrayal of bodies under duress. Drawing inspiration from the distorted bodies prevalent throughout the history of modern painting, Braunig adapts and applies these artistic legacies to address the discomforts and uncertainties of contemporary existence.
In more recent pieces, her figures seem to challenge both their own boundaries and the confines that enclose them. While evoking a dystopian atmosphere, her paintings also subtly empower their vulnerable subjects, advocating for humanist art in an era where individual experiences seem to be threatened by forces beyond our control.
Her dream-like compositions, characterized by repetition and patterns, bestow an extrasensory glow upon her figures. Their skin reflects vibrant colors that appear as a source of psychic power.
