Mevlana Lipp

Mevlana Lipp holds a profound fascination for the unadulterated natural world and its place within the realm of human imagination. In their perspective, the winding tendril of a vine, the rounded shape of a seed pod, or the graceful, swaying feathers of a crinoid serve as symbols representing intricate emotions and experiences, conveyed through a language beyond human linguistic constructs.

Biography of Mevlana Lipp

Mevlana Lipp was born in 1989 in Cologne, Germany. From 2009 to 2015, they studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 2013, the artist pursued postgraduate studies "Meisterschüler" under the guidance of Thomas Grünfeld.

In 2012, Lipp was awarded a scholarship from the Prof. Helmut E. Kreutzer Stiftung. Two years later, in 2014, they received the Travel Grant from the Kunstverein der Rheinlande und Westfalen and the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf.

His recent solo exhibitions include "Haptic Memory" at Capsule Shanghai in Shanghai (2022); "Pacific" at Plus One Gallery in Antwerp (2021); "Fluidum" at Andersen's Contemporary: The Other's Space in Copenhagen (2020); "Calypso" at Public Gallery in London (2020); "Eden" at KUK-Cologne Gallery in Cologne (2019); "Insomniac" at Miranda Kuo Gallery in New York (2018), and many more.

Furthermore, Mevlana Lipp has exhibited his works in various group shows, including "The Moon and I" at GRIMM in New York (2023); "Infinite Flowers" at PLUS-ONE Gallery in Antwerp (2022); "Twisted Dream" at John Wolf in Los Angeles (2021); "Poisonous Kiss, Lovely Venom" at Tick Tack Gallery in Antwerp (2020), among others.
