Mario Giacomelli
Mario Giacomelli was an Italian photographer known for his highly stylized and abstract black-and-white images. Giacomelli was born in Senigallia, Italy, and initially trained as a typographer. However, after World War II, he turned his attention to photography, and began to experiment with various techniques to create highly original and expressive images. Giacomelli's work is characterized by its strong graphic quality and use of strong contrast, which often resulted in highly abstract and almost surreal images. He was particularly interested in using photography as a means of exploring the human condition, and many of his photographs deal with themes such as poverty, social injustice, and the struggle for survival.
