Lester Alvarez
Lester Alvarez, born in Camagüey, Cuba in 1984, is a highly introspective artist. His works, including figurative and abstract paintings, objects, videos, and installations, are imbued with cultural symbolism, resulting in a quiet and restrained essay on existentialism. In 2011, Alvarez completed his studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), which paved the way for his successful career as a creator.
He has participated in numerous collective and solo projects, including exhibitions such as "Estado de silencio" (State of Silence) at El Apartamento and "La mano generosa" (The Generous Hand) at the Servando Art Gallery. Additionally, he has been part of various collective exhibitions, including "Karaoke" and "El silencio que precede a la tormenta" (The Silence that Precedes the Storm), both collateral events of the XII Havana Biennial, and "La parte maldita" (The Damned Part). Alvarez has received several awards for his work, such as the Tengo Frío Artist Group residency, Emerson College in England, and the IX International Biennial of Painting ISOLE in Sardinia, Italy.
