Biography of Klaus Staudt
Klaus Staudt was born in 1932 in Otterndorf am Main, Germany. Initially studying medicine from 1954 to 1959, Staudt's artistic journey began after a visit to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he enrolled in the studios of Ernst Geitlinger and Georg Meistermann.
In 1960, along with Gerhard von Graevenitz and Jürgen Morschel, he founded the gallery nota in Munich and became a member of the nouvelle tendance movement. His work is built upon basic geometric forms housed in transparent Plexiglas, creating the illusion of movement as the viewer's eye moves across them. The interplay of color, light, and shadow plays a key role in shaping perception.
Staudt has exhibited continuously for over 40 years, with a significant retrospective held at the Museum für Konkrete Kunst in Ingolstadt in 1997.
His works are part of numerous prestigious collections across Europe, including the Daimler AG Collection in Stuttgart, the Museum of Concrete Art in Ingolstadt, Haus Konstruktiv in Zürich, and Kunstmuseum Basel.
