Herbert Zangs
Following his military service, Zangs (born in 1924, died in 2003 in Krefeld, Germany) enrolled at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1945. In 1951, while on a trip to Paris, he came across abstract art, which became a significant influence on his work. Zangs then developed his unique style of working with found objects in 1952, giving rise to his white works.
Zangs' monochrome white works and his series of Relief-Paintings titled Vibrations brought him closer to the ZERO movement, which advocated for a renewal of art centered on the themes of light and movement.
In addition to numerous international exhibitions, Zangs was the subject of a significant solo exhibition at the Fondation Cartier in Paris in 1995.
