Gilles Barbier

Gilles Barbier was born in Vanuatu, located in the South Pacific, and lived there until he was 20. He currently resides and works in Marseille, France. Since the early 1990s, he has utilized various mediums in his art, ranging from intricate drawings to life-sized wax figures. In his recent exhibition, "There is No Moon Without a Rocket" (2010) at Galerie Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois in Paris, Barbier presented a collection of hypothetical worlds, such as "The World as Tree House," "The World as Thong," and "Asshole World," all of which exhibit his signature qualities of obsession and dark humor.
