Claudia Wieser's Art Style
Wieser's hand is evident in a meticulous and delicate multimedia process, showcased in her fine-colored pencil and gold leaf drawings. Her early apprenticeship as a blacksmith at Bergmeister Kunstshmiede honed her understanding of art and the object, blending aesthetics with functionality. This craftsmanship informs her approach to the technical drafting of multi-faceted mirrors, hand-painted and patterned ceramics, and carved wooden sculptures.
In her exhibition titled "Chapter," Claudia Wieser skillfully crafts a captivating and harmonious environment that seamlessly blends elements of cultural history with abstraction. The display comprises a mesmerizing collection, featuring classical busts, intricately hand-painted vases artfully positioned on the floor, and atop plinths of varying heights, along with delicate, vibrant geometric drawings.
A striking addition to the exhibit is the creative use of imagery sourced from the BBC's 1976 television adaptation of Robert Graves's renowned novel, "I, Claudius" (1934). Wieser ingeniously incorporates these black-and-white images into a wallpaper that envelops three of the gallery's walls from floor to ceiling. This unique fusion of classical and modern design elements transforms the gallery space into a captivating site for aesthetic contemplation.
In her multimedia installation named "Shift," she showcases a stunning array of five sculptures that evoke a sense of both ancient majesty and contemporary innovation.
At the heart of the exhibition stands a mesmerizing mirrored cube crafted from stainless steel, its reflective surface playing with light and space to captivate viewers. Adjacent to it is a regal throne adorned with elegant copper detailing on its sides. Adding to the immersive experience, two tiled benches provide spaces for contemplation and appreciation of the artistic vision.
