Claudia Comte
Claudia Comte is a Swiss contemporary artist born on June 6, 1983, in Grancy, Switzerland. She currently lives and works in Berlin and Grancy.
Comte studied at the École cantonale d'art de Lausanne in Switzerland and later at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg, Germany. She rose to prominence in the mid-2010s with her large-scale, geometric sculptures and installations that incorporate a range of materials, including wood, metal, and paint.
Comte has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world, including the Kunstmuseum Basel in Switzerland, the Museum Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich, and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
Comte's work is known for its use of bold, graphic forms and its exploration of the relationship between nature and culture. She often draws inspiration from natural forms and phenomena, such as mountain ranges and waves, and uses these as a starting point for her abstract, geometric sculptures and installations. Her work also incorporates references to art history and popular culture, blending elements of minimalism, pop art, and op art to create a distinctive visual language that is both playful and sophisticated.
