Biography of Bob Dylan
Born in 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota, Bob Dylan attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, from 1959 to 1960. Though he began creating art in the 1960s, it wasn't until 2007 that his work saw a public exhibition with "The Drawn Blank Series" showcased in Chemnitz, Germany.
Dylan frequently sketches and paints while touring, capturing impressions of various environments and people. A perceptive observer, he finds inspiration in everyday phenomena, presenting them in a manner that feels fresh, novel, and enigmatic. He melds diverse popular styles, reshaping their origins to create fresh amalgamations of image and significance. Recent solo exhibitions include "The Drawn Blank Series" at Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, Germany (2007); "The Brazil Series" at the National Gallery of Denmark (Statens Museum for Kunst), Copenhagen (2010); "The New Orleans Series" at Palazzo Reale, Milan (2013); and "Face Value" at the National Portrait Gallery, London (2013).
Additionally, the artist received the US National Medal of Arts in 2009 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016. Currently, Bob Dylan resides and creates in Malibu, California.
