Artur Lescher
Artur Lescher distinguishes himself in the contemporary Brazilian art landscape through his captivating three-dimensional creations.
Artur Lescher's Art Style
Since the 1980s, Artur Lescher has been crafting austere and poetic sculptures, objects, and installations, delving into the mechanics of form and movement, balance and tension, and architectural spaces.
He gained national prominence in Brazil in 1987 when he showcased "Aerólitos" at the 19th Bienal de São Paulo—a striking installation featuring two Zeppelin-like balloons positioned side-by-side, one inside and the other outside of the pavilion's windowed wall, creating a mesmerizing double image that seemingly dissolved the architectural barrier between them. Since then, Lescher has continued to play with the perception of materials and spaces, drawing inspiration from Constructivism, Suprematism, the Brazilian Neo-Concrete movement, Performance Art, and Minimalism.
Artur Lescher's artworks transcend their sculptural essence, blurring the lines between installations and objects, thereby reshaping our perception of these categories and the spaces they inhabit. At the core of his artistic discourse lies a unique, uninterrupted, and meticulous dialogue with both architecture and design. His choice of materials, which includes metal, stone, wood, felt, salts, brass, and copper, further enhances the depth and richness of his creations.
