Lindbergh's Latest: "Images of Women II: 2005-2014" Celebrates a Decade of Iconic Portraits

"KRISTEN MCMENAMY, LE TOUQUET, FRANCE, 2009" is part of Lindbergh's latest project, "Images of Women II: 2005-2014," which celebrates the last decade of his work. The book showcases nearly 300 pages of grayscale portraits. A follow-up to his 1997 book "Images of Women," Lindbergh's latest publication features a fresh collection of faces. From cover stars like Kate Moss, Uma Thurman, Tilda Swinton, Michelle Williams, and Scarlett Johansson to new-generation models such as Mariacarla Boscono and Cara Delevingne.

The last ten years have brought a lot more experience dealing with people in front of the camera, but also more guts to experiment with a more defined idea of what I want to achieve.

Beyond the Artwork: The Art of Peter Lindbergh

Since Peter Lindbergh signed with Vogue in 1988 and his iconic Pirelli shoots, the German photographer has been documenting the world of fashion, capturing its most sublime beauties. Lindbergh's photography, mostly in black and white, is sophisticated, poignant, and cinematic, gracing the pages of fashion's leading magazines such as The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, and W.

Born in 1944, Lindbergh spent his childhood in the mining town of Duisburg, West Germany. This background resonated in his iconic 1988 Comme des Garçons ad campaign, shot in monochrome on stormy beaches in the North of France. These industrial-age-inspired images featured Marie Sophie Wilson, Lynne Koester, and Tatjana Patitz, marking Lindbergh's entry into the world of fashion.

Lindbergh's journey to success is remarkable, starting as a photo assistant in 1972 with no clue about anything. Photographer by chance and artist by nature, Lindbergh's unique sensibility has earned him the trust of his subjects. His extensive list includes 90s icons like Naomi Campbell and Milla Jovovich, as well as Hollywood stars such as Julianne Moore, Cate Blanchett, and Monica Bellucci. Lindbergh's lens has captured the ethereal beauty of a generation.
