Van Hanos

Van Hanos, an American artist, explores a diverse range of styles in his oil paintings. Ranging from Impressionism and photorealism to abstraction, his work encompasses references to both art historical and contemporary subjects. Through this eclectic approach, Hanos delves into the myriad possibilities of human experience.  

Biogrpahy of Van Hanos

Van Hanos was born in 1979 in Edison, NJ, USA. In 2001, he received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Later, he continued his educational path, earning an MFA from the School of the Arts at Columbia University in New York in 2010.

Van Hanos gained critical acclaim through his participation in in Miami Beach in 2014. 

His recent solo exhibitions include "Van Hanos: Twin" at Lisson Gallery in London (2022), "Van Hanos: Conditional Bloom" at Lisson Gallery in New York (2021), "Interiors" at Château Shatto in Los Angeles (2020), and many more.

Van Hanos' artwork has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including "A Cloth Over a Birdcage" at Château Shatto in Los Angeles (2019), "The Rest" at Lisson Gallery in New York (2019), "The Land That I Live In" at Matthew Brown in Los Angeles (2019), "Body" at L’INCONNUE in Montréal (2018, curated by Domenico de Chirico), "Sky Above Clouds" at Darrow Contemporary in Aspen (2018), "Pine Barrens" at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery in New York (2018), among others.

Currently, the artist lives in Marfa, Texas, USA, where continues to work.
